Due Dates are Dumb!

Pregnancy Confidential: Week 34 – Due Dates are Dumb!

Why this podcast?
This podcast stood out for me in terms of its style. It’s hosted by editors from Parenting and Fit Pregnancy and Baby magazines and consists of a series of thirty-two episodes designed to be listened to week by week.

It’s a little similar to Preggie Pals, which I featured in this post, in that it is hosted by a small group of women who chat, laugh and share information for your pregnancy and birth as well as personal experiences.

Preparing Your Mindset for Birth

The Fear Free Childbirth Podcast: Preparing Your Mindset for Birth

Why this podcast?
Whilst writing the post ”Family-Centred Cesareans” I discovered The Fear Free Childbirth Podcast and, as most podcasts I have listened to so far have been U.S. based, I was both pleased and surprised to find that this one was British.
When I delved further, I found it to be an interesting mix of real life, positive birth stories, wisdom from birthing professionals and tips for reducing your childbirth fears.

Bustin’ Some Myths

The Pregnancy Podcast: Episode 76 – Common Pregnancy, Birth & Breastfeeding Myths

Why this podcast?
As this is the third time I have featured an episode from The Pregnancy Podcast I think it is pretty obvious that I am a huge fan.

Why?

Evidence-based information on pretty much any pregnancy or birth related topic you can think of given in an entertaining, structured and easy to follow way. Oh, and all of this in episodes of thirty minutes or less.

What’s not to love?

One of my first posts, Get me an epidural!!!!!! Or………. not??? lays out all the ins and outs of this podcast in a lot of detail (I mean A LOT of detail) so if you would like to swat up on The Pregnancy Podcast that would be a good post to check out.

Family-Centred Cesareans

Birthful: Episode 50 – Family-Centred Cesareans

Why this podcast?
With over a hundred episodes covering a huge range of pregnancy, birth and postpartum topics, this podcast is a great one to return to again and again.
The host, Adriana Lozada, is warm, bubbly and so enthusiastic that as well as being packed with great info each episode is also really entertaining to listen to.

Adriana is not only the host of this podcast but also a birth doula, postpartum educator, writer and author.

How to write your birth story

The Cord: Episode 27 – How to write your birth story

Why this podcast?
”Birth is a human rights issue”
This is the byline that you hear at the beginning of each episode of The Cord and the theme of your rights as a pregnant and birthing woman runs throughout this podcast.

I find that incredibly important and it’s one of the things that keeps bringing me back to The Cord.

The Cord is comprised of interviews with experts on pregnancy, birth, postnatal and parenting issues. Many different subjects are covered including pregnancy fitness, male midwives, homebirth and breastfeeding. I know you will find some fantastic episodes to inspire you.

Preggie Pals

Preggie Pals: Episodes – Delivering a Breech Baby & 10 Pregnancy Questions You’re too Embarrassed to Ask

Why this podcast?
I recently discovered a whole bunch of pregnancy and birth podcasts. Preggie Pals was among them and at first glance, it looked like a fairly lighthearted, dare I say, fluffy, style of podcast. I wasn’t really sure that it would be my thing but this blog isn’t about me so I decided to take a closer look.

I have to say that I was quite surprised by the content of the episodes. Many explored more serious subjects than I was perhaps expecting. Intrigued, I went to the homepage to find out more.

Floating

Healthy Births, Happy Babies: Episode 69 – What is Floating & How it Can Help During Pregnancy?

Why this podcast?
One of the reasons I like this podcast is not only for the vast array of information on everything from pregnancy, birth, the postpartum and parenting but also because it is hosted by a doctor but still has a focus on undisturbed birth.

Even if undisturbed birth is not your thing there is still a great choice of episodes to be found.

Episodes cover prenatal nutrition, hypnobirthing, postpartum recovery, raising a healthy family, tips for partners, vaccinations, depression, tongue tie and breastfeeding to name but a few.

Via Spreaker

Why this podcast?
This podcast’s byline is –

”Bringing you the latest and ancient wisdom on maternity care and beyond and covering all things sacred women’s mysteries through news, interviews and great music.”

I think what struck me was the ”all things scared women’s mysteries”. I just love that. Oh, and, this podcast is not American! There’s nothing wrong with American podcasts of course, but there are so many of them that it’s not always easy to find one from another part of the world. Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond could not come from much further away, this podcast is brought to you from Byron Bay, Australia.

What??! My baby doesn’t come with a manual?

Pea in the Podcast: Caring for your Newborn

Why this podcast?
Well, the name, obviously!
How can anyone not want to listen to something called Pea in the Podcast?
Well, ok, maybe the name wasn’t the only reason I chose to feature this podcast.
I had heard a lot about it, all good things, and I was very interested to find out more. On the Pea in the Podcast homepage, I discovered that –

“Pea In The Podcast was created to provide pregnant women with important information including everything they need to know about their bodies and their babies.”

Creating your birth cave

The Pregnancy Podcast: Episode 49 – Labour Room Environment

I have a confession to make. This was not the post I was planning to write. I know, shocking right??! The post I had planned to put here today was about the hormones of childbearing.

It doesn’t sound glamorous but actually, it’s both fascinating and essential information. Somehow, though, I just got stuck part way through. Lost my mojo a bit.

So, I will be bringing that one to you at some point, I promise, but for today I’m going to tell you about a wonderful episode from The Pregnancy Podcast about creating your own calm, safe space in which to birth your baby
