Finding Balance

The Balance & Motherhood Podcast – A Practical and Insanely Effective Approach to Finding BALANCE for Mamas
(episode 004)

Why this podcast?
You may remember that back in September I published this post about the Doing It At Home podcast. Hosted by married couple Matthew and Sarah Bivens, the DIAH podcast takes you on their journey to home birth.

I am a little bit addicted to that podcast and LOVE how open and honest both Matthew and Sarah are about their journey into birth, parenting and their relationship in general. The DIAH podcast also features a whole bunch of home birth stories from families who have listened to Matthew and Sarah’s story and been inspired to share their own.

Will Your Partner Be A Rock at Your Birth?

Rockstar Birth Radio – Brian The Birth Guy: Rockin’ Dads

Why this podcast?
I love, love, love all the beautiful and powerful photos that I see on social media from the rockstar birth mamas.

I also believe, so strongly, that whatever kind of birth you want it is incredibly important to be an active participant in that birth.

Shalome Stone, the host of Rockstar Birth Radio, says that when she was pregnant with her first baby she wanted a natural, drug-free labour but did precisely zero preparation and simply turned up at the hospital in labour asking “So, what do I do next?”

Birth With Joy – BirthTube!!! What Is That?

Why this podcast?
I listened to this podcast a few days ago and immediately fell in love with its opening music (Cloud Cult – You Were Born) and then discovered (a podcast first for me) that it’s hosted by a midwife.

After giving birth to her son, Mountain in a converted school bus attended by a midwife, the host, Joy Jech –

“realized her life calling was to support other mothers to have an empowering, transformative, and loving birth experience”

What If YOU Were In Charge Of Pregnancy & Birth?

Birth, Baby & Life – What If YOU Were In Charge Of Pregnancy & Birth?

Why this podcast?
The Birth, Baby & Life podcast has only featured once on this blog but with one hundred episodes to date, I felt it was time for another!

The host, Kristen Burgess, is an advocate of natural birth but says that blind faith in birth is not enough. She stresses the importance of working with your unique body and your unique pregnancy and baby to prepare for the birth you want.

Kristen has eight children and so definitely knows a thing or two about birth. She developed Natural Birth and Baby Care in the hope of providing –

Doulas

PregTASTIC – Prenatal Doula

Why this podcast?
I recently completed all the requirements for my Birth Doula certification and was feeling inspired to write a post on doulas. I happened to stumble upon the PregTASTIC podcast and decided it would be a good time to feature them again.

Then I realised that I hadn’t featured them at all.

Not once!

So, not only did I find an episode on doulas but I get to feature a whole new podcast too.

PregTASTIC describes itself as –

“A weekly online radio show by pregnant women, for pregnant women about the fantastic journeys to motherhood”

Natural Ways to Handle Labour

The Birth Hour – Natural Coping Techniques for Labor

Why this podcast?
The Birth Hour was the very first podcast that I featured on this blog (For Every Woman) and I love listening to the huge range of birth journeys and experiences that can be found there.

I especially love that the host, Bryn Huntpalmer, has created a safe haven for women to share both their birth stories and all the emotions that come along with them.

The episode I am going to feature here is a bit different as it is not a birth story but one of five fantastic ‘Know Your Options’ bonus episodes co-created with doula, childbirth educator and lactation consultant, Stephanie Spitzer-Hanks.

The Low Down On Interventions

The Pregnancy Podcast – Interventions

Why this podcast?
The Pregnancy Podcast was a huge part of my inspiration for creating this blog.
I loved how I could get evidence-based, well-researched information given in a super relaxed, easy to listen to style in episodes of thirty minutes or less.

Is there much more to say?

How does it look?
There are actually three different styles of episodes.
Forty weeks gives you information about what’s happening with you and your baby in each week of your pregnancy. These episodes are five minutes.

Birth Trauma Myths

Birthful – Birth Trauma Myths

Why this podcast?
Birthful is featuring here for the fourth time so I won’t go too much into the ins and outs but with one hundred and twenty episodes you will find a lot of information to –

“Inform your intuition”

Birthful is hosted by the mighty Adriana Lozada, a doula, author and postpartum educator, whose enthusiasm for her work bubbles over in each and every episode.

Interviews with pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding and parenting professionals, along with Adriana’s own experience, make for a really informative, well-rounded podcast.

10 Reasons To Call Your Midwife

Preggie Pals – 10 Reasons To Call Your Doctor or Midwife

Why this podcast?
This podcast is here again because it’s a fun one to listen to and there are just so many topics to choose from.

Each episode features a group of women who are mothers, pregnant or both and it’s like listening to a group of friends chatting and sharing their experiences.

The experts that are invited in ensure that this podcast also has a serious side and sound info.

For more details about the podcast itself, you might want to check out my first post featuring Preggie Pals, which you can find here.

Rock Your Birth

Rockstar Birth Radio – Positive Caesarean Birth

Why this podcast?
Maybe it’s because I’m a doula and super interested in all things birth but I get a lot of photos and links pop up on my social media from Rockstar Birth Magazine.

I love their photos of birthing mothers, they are so richly powerful, beautiful and often intense.

I had no idea, however, that there was also a Rockstar Birth Radio, in other words, a podcast!

Excited much?

The host, Shalome Stone, who also started the Rock Your Birth Academy, asks if you want to remain in fear of birth –
