Breastfeeding Your Newborn

All Things Breastfeeding – Breastfeeding Your Newborn Baby

Why this podcast?
It’s World Breastfeeding Week – how could I not feature a breastfeeding podcast?

The podcast is actually part of a website called The Breastfeeding Center of Ann Arbor which is a fantastic breastfeeding resource whether you are looking for tips on feeding, looking to take a lactation training or wondering how you are going to manage to breastfeed once you are back at work. There are even links to blogs, youtube videos, apps and lots more. It really is a very comprehensive resource for, well, all things breastfeeding.

So, What About AFTER You Have The Baby?

The Postpartum Podcast – The Power of Podcast and Social Media and New Motherhood

Why this podcast?
The Postpartum Podcast is one I’ve subscribed to for a while but haven’t written about yet.

I think that’s simply because, being a birth doula, I tend to focus on pregnancy and birth but the postpartum period, especially the immediate postpartum, is really a part of birth too.

Many of you will have heard of the 4th Trimester Bodies Project. This project is dedicated to –

So Much Stuff!

Due Date: A lot of stuff – not all for baby (via soundcloud)

Via itunes

Why this podcast?
As has happened a lot recently, I found this podcast by accident whilst researching a different podcast.
I was immediately struck by how different it is from any I have featured so far.

Ashley May, who works for USA Today, takes you on a journey through her pregnancy.
It’s just like watching a documentary about someone’s life except, of course, you are listening instead of watching.

Ashley acts as a kind of narrator but you also get to listen to her talking to her partner, family and friends.
This also means that you listen in to various pieces of advice and opinions from those close to her and you will need to sift through these yourself to see which you take in and which you leave by the wayside.

Bustin’ Some Myths

The Pregnancy Podcast: Episode 76 – Common Pregnancy, Birth & Breastfeeding Myths

Why this podcast?
As this is the third time I have featured an episode from The Pregnancy Podcast I think it is pretty obvious that I am a huge fan.

Why?

Evidence-based information on pretty much any pregnancy or birth related topic you can think of given in an entertaining, structured and easy to follow way. Oh, and all of this in episodes of thirty minutes or less.

What’s not to love?

One of my first posts, Get me an epidural!!!!!! Or………. not??? lays out all the ins and outs of this podcast in a lot of detail (I mean A LOT of detail) so if you would like to swat up on The Pregnancy Podcast that would be a good post to check out.

What??! My baby doesn’t come with a manual?

Pea in the Podcast: Caring for your Newborn

Why this podcast?
Well, the name, obviously!
How can anyone not want to listen to something called Pea in the Podcast?
Well, ok, maybe the name wasn’t the only reason I chose to feature this podcast.
I had heard a lot about it, all good things, and I was very interested to find out more. On the Pea in the Podcast homepage, I discovered that –

“Pea In The Podcast was created to provide pregnant women with important information including everything they need to know about their bodies and their babies.”
