Will Your Older Children Attend Your Birth?

The Pregnancy Podcast – Q&A: Siblings at the Birth of a New Baby

Why this podcast?
I know, I know, The Pregnancy Podcast is making quite a few appearances on this blog but I just couldn’t resist this episode and, it’s a Q&A episode, which I haven’t featured before so I just kind of, well, went for it.

If you have read my other posts featuring The Pregnancy Podcast (epidurals, creating your birth cave, bustin’ some myths and when birth doesn’t go as planned) then you will know why I love it so much.

The Placenta: How Will You Eat Yours?

Fear Free Childbirth Podcast – Placenta Encapsulation

Why this podcast?
Ever since I wrote the post Preparing Your Mindset for Birth, I have known that I wanted to come back to this podcast. The host, Alexia Leachman, is a therapist, speaker and pregnancy coach who has overcome tokophobia, the fear of pregnancy and childbirth.

As a doula, I have learned how much fear and anxiety can interfere with birth. For those women who have tokophobia, this is a much greater fear than the usual anxiety and doubts that can lurk in the back of our minds.

So, How Do I Push My Baby Out?

Birth, Baby and Life: What You Need to Know About Pushing Your Baby Out

Why this podcast?
Whilst pondering which podcast episode to feature this week, I discovered that whilst I had subscribed to the Birth, Baby and Life podcast, I had not yet listened to a single episode. A whole new, unexplored set of podcast episodes, perfect!

Birth, Baby and Life is hosted by Kristen Burgess who introduces herself as someone who has loved babies since she herself was a baby.
Brought up seeing babies born by cesarean and formula fed, Kristen started reading about physiological, undisturbed birth as a teenager and a whole new world opened up for her.

Top 10 Foods for Pregnancy

Preggie Pals: Top 10 Foods to Eat while Pregnant

Why this podcast?
Listening to this podcast is fun. It’s like someone put a recording device in your living room while you had your girlfriends over for coffee.
Although the approach is pretty lighthearted this podcast covers a real range of areas relating to pregnancy and birth and there is some really sound information along with the giggles.

You may remember that the first time I featured this podcast I did a bit of a double whammy in that I focussed on not one, but two episodes. The first, covering breech birth was so informative that I had to feature it and the second, ”Ten Pregnancy Questions You’re too Embarrassed to Ask” just had to be included.

Unforgettable Doula Moments

Birthful: 10 Unforgettable Doula Moments

Why this podcast?
This podcast is great for getting info on a whole bunch of different topics related to pregnancy, birth and beyond.

I have featured this podcast twice before – Your Own Personal Birth Fairy and Family-Centred Cesareans, so I won’t bore you with all of the details, all over again.
Suffice to say that the host, Adriana Lozada, a doula, author and postpartum educator, is enthusiastic, experienced and bubbly and with over one hundred episodes you will definitely find a whole lot of information to –

Due Dates are Dumb!

Pregnancy Confidential: Week 34 – Due Dates are Dumb!

Why this podcast?
This podcast stood out for me in terms of its style. It’s hosted by editors from Parenting and Fit Pregnancy and Baby magazines and consists of a series of thirty-two episodes designed to be listened to week by week.

It’s a little similar to Preggie Pals, which I featured in this post, in that it is hosted by a small group of women who chat, laugh and share information for your pregnancy and birth as well as personal experiences.

Preparing Your Mindset for Birth

The Fear Free Childbirth Podcast: Preparing Your Mindset for Birth

Why this podcast?
Whilst writing the post ”Family-Centred Cesareans” I discovered The Fear Free Childbirth Podcast and, as most podcasts I have listened to so far have been U.S. based, I was both pleased and surprised to find that this one was British.
When I delved further, I found it to be an interesting mix of real life, positive birth stories, wisdom from birthing professionals and tips for reducing your childbirth fears.

Bustin’ Some Myths

The Pregnancy Podcast: Episode 76 – Common Pregnancy, Birth & Breastfeeding Myths

Why this podcast?
As this is the third time I have featured an episode from The Pregnancy Podcast I think it is pretty obvious that I am a huge fan.

Why?

Evidence-based information on pretty much any pregnancy or birth related topic you can think of given in an entertaining, structured and easy to follow way. Oh, and all of this in episodes of thirty minutes or less.

What’s not to love?

One of my first posts, Get me an epidural!!!!!! Or………. not??? lays out all the ins and outs of this podcast in a lot of detail (I mean A LOT of detail) so if you would like to swat up on The Pregnancy Podcast that would be a good post to check out.

Family-Centred Cesareans

Birthful: Episode 50 – Family-Centred Cesareans

Why this podcast?
With over a hundred episodes covering a huge range of pregnancy, birth and postpartum topics, this podcast is a great one to return to again and again.
The host, Adriana Lozada, is warm, bubbly and so enthusiastic that as well as being packed with great info each episode is also really entertaining to listen to.

Adriana is not only the host of this podcast but also a birth doula, postpartum educator, writer and author.

Preggie Pals

Preggie Pals: Episodes – Delivering a Breech Baby & 10 Pregnancy Questions You’re too Embarrassed to Ask

Why this podcast?
I recently discovered a whole bunch of pregnancy and birth podcasts. Preggie Pals was among them and at first glance, it looked like a fairly lighthearted, dare I say, fluffy, style of podcast. I wasn’t really sure that it would be my thing but this blog isn’t about me so I decided to take a closer look.

I have to say that I was quite surprised by the content of the episodes. Many explored more serious subjects than I was perhaps expecting. Intrigued, I went to the homepage to find out more.
