Simple, Healthy Foods For Your Postpartum

Newbies – Postpartum Nutrition for New Moms

Why this podcast?
Whilst exploring the array of fertility, pregnancy, birth and parenting podcasts under the umbrella Parents on Demand (or POD) network for my previous post I stumbled across the Newbies podcast.

Covering areas such as preparing your car for your new baby; delayed postpartum depression; tears and episiotomy; swaddling; cloth diapers and sex after baby, this podcast seemed a great one to feature here.

Who should listen to this episode?
Expecting mums, partners and any family and friends who are planning to help out with food post-baby.

How Might A Big Baby Change Your Birth?

Evidence Based Birth – What are the birth implications for a suspected big baby?

Why this podcast?

“If you don’t know your options, you don’t have any.” Diana Korte and Roberta Scaer.

In order to have options you first need to know what those options are and that requires information. Luckily, the internet is a source of endless knowledge but how much of it can really be trusted?

Evidence Based Birth is a fantastic and very accessible resource that is exactly what it says it is – evidence-based – and that is key when you are researching your birth options.

7 Ways Your Partner Can Support You Postpartum

Healthy Births Happy Babies – 7 Ways Dads Can Best Support Moms During Postpartum

Why this podcast?
This was one of the first podcasts that I featured on this blog but I have to admit that, lately, I have kind of forgotten about it. I thought about it just the other day and decided it was high time to feature it again!

This is a podcast hosted by doctors but geared towards undisturbed (or intervention-free) birth, which, rightly or wrongly, is not necessarily a combination you might expect.

Taking A Breastfeeding Class…..Before Your Baby Arrives?

All Things Breastfeeding Podcast – Taking a Prenatal Breastfeeding Class

Why this podcast?
This podcast is part of a website called The Breastfeeding Center of Ann Arbor (BFCAA.com) which is a fantastic resource for everything relating to breastfeeding and includes links to blogs, youtube videos, apps and lots more.

It’s such a great resource that I am going ahead with this post even though, for some reason, I can no longer access the website. I am not the most tech savvy individual so I’m not sure if the problem is my end or the website end. If anyone knows what might be happening please let me know!

What To Pack In Your Birth Bag

The Pregnancy Podcast – What to Pack in Your Birth Bag

Why this podcast?
If you’ve ever read this blog before you will probably have stumbled across quite a few posts featuring the Pregnancy Podcast.

I love it because the episodes are short, easy to listen to and use evidence-based info to help you get informed about pretty much everything and anything surrounding your pregnancy and birth.

It’s an amazing resource and I’m so happy that the host, Vanessa Merten, is still going strong!

Do You Co-Sleep?

All About Breastfeeding – Helen Ball Talks Co-sleeping and Room Sharing

Why this podcast?
This is a fantastic resource for anyone wanting to or already breastfeeding.
The host, Lori Isenstadt, is an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and after having a tough birth and breastfeeding experience with her first child, she certified as both a Childbirth Educator and a Birth Doula.

With around ten thousand consultations with mothers and babies, Lori definitely knows a thing or two about breastfeeding.

The Evidence On Placenta Encapsulation

The Evidence Based Birth Podcast – (Episode 7)

Why this podcast?
As a doula, I always want to guide my clients to evidence-based information so that they can make truly informed decisions. Evidence Based Birth is a fantastic website with easy to understand research and information on a whole range of pregnancy and birth-related topics.

From the evidence on being induced or having a cesarean for a big baby to failure to progress; premature rupture of membranes; doulas and a natural labour induction series, they’ve got you covered.

Doulas: What are they and what are they not?

Dr Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy Podcast – Labor Doulas

Why this podcast?
I’ve been wanting to feature this one ever since Dr Berlin was interviewed about breech birth on Preggie Pals. For that post, click here.
Dr Berlin is, among other things, an award-winning prenatal chiropractor and a doula who also happens to have his own podcast (with rocking’ theme music).

Plus, as a doula, how could I not love a podcast devoted to keeping people informed during their pregnancy?

5 Reasons To Choose Home Birth…And 1 Reason Not To

Doing It At Home Podcast – Why Are You Choosing Home Birth?

Why this podcast?
I’ve really fallen for this one. The hosts, Matthew and Sarah Bivens, began this podcast as a way of documenting their own journey to home birth. Since then it has become so much more. They interview birth experts, share their experience of pregnancy, birth and parenting and talk to other families who had their babies at home.

I think it is fair to say that whilst this podcast is very much about open and honest conversation around home birth, it is really about choosing the birth that is empowering and right for you, however that looks.

Essential Oils in Pregnancy, Birth & The Postpartum

The Pregnancy Podcast – Essential Oils for Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum (And Their Safety)

Why this podcast?
I don’t think it’s a secret at this point that this is one of my go-to podcasts. It’s fun, informative, evidenced-based and with episodes of thirty minutes or less covering pretty much anything you can think of relating to pregnancy, birth and the early postpartum, this is definitely not the last time you’ll see it featured.

How does it look?
Unless this is your first visit to this blog you will have probably read about the Pregnancy Podcast multiple times. In case you haven’t, here is a short, and I mean super short breakdown.
