Creating your birth cave

The Pregnancy Podcast: Episode 49 – Labour Room Environment

I have a confession to make. This was not the post I was planning to write. I know, shocking right??! The post I had planned to put here today was about the hormones of childbearing.

It doesn’t sound glamorous but actually, it’s both fascinating and essential information. Somehow, though, I just got stuck part way through. Lost my mojo a bit.

So, I will be bringing that one to you at some point, I promise, but for today I’m going to tell you about a wonderful episode from The Pregnancy Podcast about creating your own calm, safe space in which to birth your baby

Your own personal birth fairy

Birthful: Episode 17 – Birth Doulas

Why this podcast?
I first heard about the Birthful podcast in a doula group I belong to on facebook. There was a discussion of people’s favourite podcasts (I know, perfect for me, right?!) and someone mentioned Birthful.

This podcast is made up of interviews with pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding and parenting professionals.

The host, Adriana Lozada, is –

a mom, author, speaker, birth doula, postpartum educator, and healthy sleep consultant

Breastfeeding in public

All About Breastfeeding: Episode 58 – Nursing in public

Why this podcast?
All About Breastfeeding’s opening track consists of a woman rolling out all the euphemisms used to describe our breasts.

” Balloons, bazookas, boobs, boobies, bosoms, boulders, cans, hooters, knockers, melons, honkers, jugs, rack, tatas…The Girls’

How could I not feature this podcast???!

Seriously, though, this is a fabulous resource for anyone planning to or already breastfeeding. The host, Lori Isenstadt, is an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and after having a not so great birth or breastfeeding experience with her first child she certified as a Childbirth Educator and as a Birth Doula.

VBAC Facts: Once a C-section, always a C-section??

Dr. Stu’s Podcast: Episode 68 – Facts R Us

Why this podcast?
If you read my post ”If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’‘ you may remember a reference to Dr. Stu’s Podcast. That was also the first I had heard of it so a few days after writing that post I decided to check it out. Before I delve into that experience I need to go off on a sidetrack. Just a quick one, I promise!

My husband keeps telling me that I need to be more critical in my posts. Not negative but just have a few more criticisms in there for balance. I have to admit that I find that hard because, so far, I have nothing but huge amounts of bubbling enthusiasm for these podcasts and the knowledge that they bring.
